Child Dental Care

Teach your children the importance of good oral hygiene early with regular check-ups and visits to Tooth Booth’s child-friendly clinic’s. Starting early with your child’s dental visits and providing a positive experience can set them up for a lifetime of dental health.

When Should I Take My Child to the Dentist?

Your child’s first visit to our practice should occur before the age of two. While this may seem early, we believe establishing good habits as early as possible is fundamental to the development of healthy re-lationships with the dentist and maintaining at-home brushing and flossing throughout their life. It is also extremely important to assess the development of baby teeth. Even though baby teeth do eventually fall out they are still very important to look after. Baby teeth are necessary for establishing functional speech, chewing and mouth developments throughout childhood and they also provide the foundations for adult teeth later in life.

During the visit we will:

  • Count the number of baby teeth
  • Assess teeth placement and spacing
  • Whether teeth are being cleaned effectively
  • Signs of early decay

At this stage, children can develop a type of decay called ‘nursing caries,’ which can be the result of feeding and dietary habits. Often it is caused by the child sucking on a bottle for long periods. A check-up in early childhood can identify any spotting which indicates the early stages of decay. The visit can also provide other benefits:

Encourage healthy habits:

Our dentists can help your child establish healthy dental habits, teaching them the importance of regular check-ups and brushing routine.

Positive experience:

Children who have a positive experience at the dentist at an early age are more likely to continue the habit in later years. Our clinic’s provides a calming environment for your child’s visit.

Monitor for problems:

Catch any issues with your child’s teeth early for preventive care and we can work together to establish a plan for healthy teeth develop-ment and any orthodontic care.

Early Intervention Orthodontics:

Our two-phase approach can help manage your child’s jaw and tooth development at an early stage, negating the need for more serious and costly procedures later in life.
